story
"For my husband's 40th I wanted to give him something that spoke to both where he came from, as well as all he's built. And, in the contemplation, the word that sprang to mind was "home." And thus began my nutty determination to pry a brick from both his childhood home and the one we've built together. With those two chunks of clay and shale, Luum created a mold that, much like the homes we grow in, served as a foundation in which to pour the precious metal that became the finished product."

"My dad was a pretty sentimental guy. When I was “sweet” 16, he gave me an engraved gold locket for my birthday. He died a couple of years later; I wore that locket until the hinge failed, and then it sat in my jewelry box for more than a decade. My dad also gave me my first puppy and seeded my lifelong obsession with dogs. My last dog, a Rottweiler cross named Amos, was charming, loyal, handsome, sweet - a total superstar - and my constant companion for 13 years. When Amos passed, we used his ashes to mold my broken locket into a perfectly imperfect ring. Whenever I notice it on my hand, I'm reminded of where it came from and how lucky I’ve been. I guess I’m kind of sentimental, too."

Mena: "My ring has the history of our relationship embedded in it. All the imperfections are what make it perfect."
Braden: "It feels deeply personal and profoundly meaningful to look down at this 2mm ring and know that it holds so many stories in all its nooks and crannies."

story
"We met on a warm September day. Two foreigners in New York, a German and Canadian. The next time we met, we had moved in together. We fell in love that winter, in our 6th floor walk up with original beams and exposed brick in the heart of the West Village. A few months later on a family trip to Thailand we realized that this was it - the partner we would spend our life with. One year to the day after meeting we were married. We officially bound our love around friends and family in the place where we had met - Central Park. Our rings capture both physically and emotionally our memories together. Each edge, nuance and imperfection are reminders of the love we share. They are made from a family heirloom and cast in brick from our apartment, sea shells from the beach in Thailand, and soil from where we met that beautiful September day."

story
"My wife, Lisha, and I decided to elope to Vegas for our wedding without family. But I still wanted to make sure I found a way to keep my parents (who separated many years ago) involved in the process. I thought Luum offered a brilliant chance to do just that, while creating something I'd cherish way more than anything I'd get from a typical store. So I asked my mum and dad each for an heirloom to contribute to my wedding ring. My mum shared a set of earrings, and my dad shared a golden cufflink which had originally belonged to my grandpa. For my medium, I chose to collect dirt from the school playground where I first met some of my closest friends to this day. Friends who also were able to make the journey to share the special moment with my wife and I."

story
"Most of my friends know that my Grandma was one of my best friends. She was a rebel just like me. When my parents got divorced, she stole their silver engagement rings and before she passed away, she handed them down to me. Usually “things” don’t mean anything to me, but these did, so I had them melted down and made into a new ring. Jeff (Luum Co-founder) and I go back about 10 years when my brother and I started our first business. The first major project was a Redwood table, made in our first shop at 442 Dufferin Street. Through business, Jeff and I became brothers. I wanted this ring to be extra special, so I gave Jeff the freedom to pick the medium for my casting. Going back to our start as friends, Jeff collected soil from 442 Dufferin and Redwood dust to create the casting for my ring. The different media create the perfect imperfections. It’s just a thing. But it means the world to me, and in Grandma’s legacy…say hi to the rebel ring."
